I Love Taiwan : Episode 4

The next day, we headed off to 'Long Shan Temple', 龙山寺。But before that, stopping by Dragon Temple Station through that old loyal MRT, we had a huge and amazingly great breakfast. We walked into this shop, with no one recommending us of this place, sat down and hope to just have a simple breakfast. Little did we know, our taste-buds were then taken for a thrill!

Search for this shop!

The words on the board, you've to ask Candy how to read them, 'AhAhAhAh', XD

3 layers of goodness!

Must try fish head soup!

Look for this shop shown in the picture above, with it's fish head porridge the best of the best. Also try the chicken braised rice there, it's tantalizing! And most importantly, look for the dish of steam pork meat with ginger, that is really highly recommended, costing about $80 per plate. Everything was cooked to perfection, the tastes simply awesome. We tasted heaven that morning, and yes every dish was worth every penny.

This is a must try dish!!! Steamed meat with ginger!

Fish soup.

After filling our tanks, we walked on to Long Shan Temple. As a Buddhist, mii and my friends offered our prayers and respect to the deities there. The whole place was very holy, and for once in a long time, my heart felt at ease. There were hundreds and hundreds of people there, all to offer their prayers. I also visited the 'match-making deity', 月老。From there, I got myself a red string, symbolizing my love life has been tied to another person which I will meet soon in future. So girls, here I come! XD

Long Shan Temple

Hundreds of people offering prayers.

The prayers was one thing, the architecture was the other that caught my attention. Details, art and sculptures, carved onto every rooftop and pillar there, I really was amused by the effort taken to build the image of this temple. I prayed hard and long, hopefully my prayers will be answered, may all be well and happy...

After that, we then walked down to Bo Pi Liao, a backdrop for a famous movie, MongKa. Bo Pi Liao as explained by a guard there, was one of the oldest streets in Taiwan, dating back to almost 300 years ago. Once used to be a famous street, its pride fell during the conquering of the British and Japanese, leaving the street in tatters. Soon after, architectures came, combined strength and rebuild the whole place, preserving what was left till this very day!

It was really a special place, where many wedding pictures were taken there as well. Just that day, we met 2 couples taking wedding pictures at the site, simply a perfect place to dance up some romance. Cameras kept clicking non-stop as everyone was busy capturing the beauty of that place. This place is one to remember, especially when you could feel yourself being transported back into time as one walks through that very street!

Perfect place to get wedding pictures taken.

Awesome photography!

Later on that day, we walked once again to Xi Men Ding, also a place to exercise your shopping spree (Be warned, only strong legs could have helped us travel this far). Here, you could find almost everything, branded or no branded. Clothes are once again of variety, a shopping heaven for girls. We boys, well, we eat and window shop at the same time.

Shopping heaven for many.

There is a shop the called 'Ah Zhong Mee' 阿宗面线。This is a famous food in Taipei, but also, don't expect too much as I also thought this dish was just so-so. Still, do give it a try.

Search for this shop selling noodles.

Cinemas in Taiwan are very expensive, costing 300$ for a movie ticket (RM30). Unless you have the cash to spill and the urge to yield, then go ahead. According to my friends, the cinema as some-sort high class.

A cinema in Taipei.

After the 'shop till you drop' came to reality, we then headed back to our motel. You might think a whole day of walking would have kept us at home. But no! Behold, we were soon travelling on the MRT again to Taipei's biggest night market, Shi Lin Night Market. Foods, clothes, games, arts and more walking came after that. 7-11 was once again our hang-out spot once we got home. And this time, we did stay put and had a really goodnight's rest!
