After the Sabah frenzy, we soon took off by Air Asia to Taipei, Taiwan. A 4hour journey and soon, we were soaring above the plains of Taiwan. On arriving at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, we were seriously taken aback by the technology boasted by the airport. Everything was so advance and up-to-date. Even the toilets amused us with its built-in mirror TV and automated flushes. It just gave us an impression that our day was gonna get even better!
After paying an amount of $150 (RM15), we soon headed by bus to the heart of Taipei town area. Passing by shops lavishing with foods of vast variety, we soon came to Song Jiang Nan Jin Town area, where we checked into our motel. Growling tummies soon helped us find our way towards a shop selling 'lu rou fan' (pork braised rice), and our taste buds did the rest. Sweet, simple and tasty, it was what was expected of this dish. Simply a great way to start our food engines.
Taiwan is really a heaven for food lovers. You can see hawkers selling all kinds of foodstuff in every corner.
Soon, we took Taiwan's MRT to our next destination ~~ Chen Pin Shopping Centre. The MRT was like no other. I'm not being biased here, but the system is so very well-organised, with each train arriving every 4minutes. Hence, one does not have to worry about missing the train. The station workers there were also very professional, compared to those in Malaysia, we still have a long way to go before we reach that standard. There were waiting lines for the elderly, even waiting lines for female passengers at night. In the train, priority seats are really for those in need, and if you sit on them when its crowded, believe mii you'll get scolded for doing so. Perfectly civilized the people of Taiwan!
At Chen Pin Shopping Centre, it was window shopping for us as the goods sold were branded, but unique in every way they are. We also managed to visit the art gallery at the top-most floor. Foods are once again a variety around there you can bet your money on that.
Later that night, we went to Taipei 101 and traveled up the world's fastest elevator. A calculated time of 36seconds up 87 floors, it was really breathtaking and our ears blocked by the gush of speed it possesses. The night view up there was magnificent, and most importantly we learnt how the building withstands strong winds and earthquakes, all with the help of a massive pendulum in the middle! Certainly worth the $450 we paid for the entrance fee.
After that, we went to one of the night markets in Taipei. There, we managed to feast on a local delicacy called 'lu wei' (卤味) a must try dish in Taiwan! (non-halal) Soon after, we retreated back to our motels for a goodnight's rest. Tiring as it was, it was a great experience we had in such a long time!
